Common things residents and businesses need from the City of Union.
Pay
- Utilities (water/sewer) — Pay online or at City Hall. See Utility Billing for rates.
- Property taxes — collected by Union County. Current city rate is $1.57 per $1,000 assessed value. Call the Union County Assessor/Tax Collector at (541) 962-1002 or visit union-county.org.
Apply
- Jobs — current openings are posted on the News page; the Job Application is in Documents.
- Burn permit — issued once per calendar year, $10. Burning is not permitted July 1–September 30. See FAQ.
- Dog license — required for dogs 6 months and older. $15 (spayed/neutered) or $25. Administered by the Union County Sheriff. See FAQ.
- Volunteer — Emergency Services, the Library, and Friends of the Library all welcome volunteers; applications are in Documents. See Emergency Services and Library.

- New water/sewer account or close-out — call City Hall at (541) 562-5197; the Water/Sewer Sign-On Form is in Documents.
- Public records — contact City Hall.
Report
- Ordinance violation — complete the Citizen Comment Form (available in Documents or at City Hall) and return it to City Hall. See Code Enforcement.

Register
- To vote — register online with the Oregon Secretary of State or at the Union County Clerk’s Office in La Grande, (541) 963-1006. Online registration.
