City Government
The City of Union operates under a Mayor–Council form of government. The City Council sets policy and adopts ordinances; appointed committees and commissions advise on planning, budget, the library, and historic preservation. Day-to-day operations are run by the City Administration from City Hall.
City Council
The City Council meets the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Leonard Almquist Council Chambers, Union City Hall. Agendas, work sessions, and minutes are posted on the City Council page and in Meeting Agendas.
Committees & Commissions
- Planning Commission — land use, zoning, and development review
- Historic Preservation Commission — historic walking tour, cemetery, and preservation
- Budget Committee — reviews the annual budget alongside the Council; see City Budget
- Library Board — oversees the Union Carnegie Public Library; see Library
- Revolving Loan Fund Committee — administers the city’s revolving loan program (documents in Documents)
Budget & Finance
The city’s annual budget covers the fiscal year July 1 through June 30. Budget documents and hearing materials are on the City Budget page.
