Historic Preservation Commission
The City of Union Historic Preservation Commission works to identify, protect, and promote the historic resources that make Union one of Oregon’s most distinctive small towns. Union’s downtown and surrounding neighborhoods feature one of the finest collections of Victorian-era architecture in the Pacific Northwest.

Historic Walking Tour

Victorian Cemetery
The Union Victorian Cemetery is one of the oldest burial grounds in northeast Oregon, with graves dating to the 1860s. The cemetery contains the remains of pioneers, Civil War veterans, and prominent early residents of Union County. The ornate headstones and monuments reflect the craftsmanship and customs of the Victorian era and provide a tangible connection to the community’s founding generation.
Union Ranger District Compound
The Union Ranger District Compound is a historic administrative site for the U.S. Forest Service, located in Union. Built during the early twentieth century, the compound includes original Craftsman-style buildings that served as offices, residences, and support facilities for the management of surrounding national forest lands. The compound is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and represents the federal government’s early commitment to conservation in the Blue Mountains region.
